International chess tournament OPEN KRKONOSE 2000
The first international chess tournament OPEN KRKONOSE 2000 took place in representative hall of hotel Horizont in Pec pod Snezkou at 29.10.-5.11.2000. There has started 68 players from Germany, Austria, Holland, Sweden, Norway, England, Poland, Russia, Lithuania, Australia and Czech Republic.
In the tournament has won Zdenek Pokorny of the Czech Republic with 7,5 points, one point clear before other players. The 2nd-4th place has taken Schnabel, Chudinovskih and Bores. Very good has also played the woman players from Sweden Eva Jiretorn (16th place - 5.5 points) and Susanne berg (30th place with 4.5 points).
The most of games has began at 18 o'clock so players had enough time for trip to the Krkonose mountains (the weather was really fair). There was a lot of sport possibilities in hotel Horizont - the players could use free indoor swimming pool, whirlpool, hothouse and fitness centre. For the fee next table tennis, billiards, bowling, squash, ricochet etc.
